Once known as Kingstown, Dun Laoghaire is the main passenger port for Dublin and a popular destination for city-dwellers during good weather.



This is a view across Dublin Bay from Dun Laoghaire, where most ferry passengers from Britain get their first sight of the city. The power station lies up at the mouth of the Liffey and is a familiar landmark to anyone who takes the DART (the coastal suburban train) up and down the sandy shores of the bay.
